Writing and Rhetoric Book 2: Narrative I – Student Edition
Writing and Rhetoric Book 2: Narrative I – Student Edition assumes children learn best by reading excellent literature and improving their own writing skills by imitating those writers.
This Book 2 covers narrative writing and provides the follow-up to Book 1. Exercises teach skills that students can employ across all subjects. Skills move from simple to complex, and the cumulative nature of each chapter reviews skills from earlier in the book. Consequently, this helps students to build a solid foundation of writing skills.
What Students Learn in This Curriculum
Narrative I uses parable, myth, and other tales to teach beginning writers the craft of writing well. Lessons focus on beginning/middle/end; written and oral narration; longer writing assignments; the main idea; conflict; adding dialogue and description; writing given stories; and more.
We need to teach writing, just like any other subject. If we let students be “free” to write without a model, they often jump in the deep end without learning to swim first! This program equips children to build their writing skills on a firm foundation.
