Principles of Mathematics: Book 1 Student Text
The Principles of Mathematics: Book 1 Student Text lays a solid foundation for students ages 11-13 – both academically and spiritually – as they prepare for high school algebra!
Students will firm up foundational concepts, study concepts of arithmetic and geometry, and further develop their problem-solving skills. They will apply mathematical concepts in a practical way to everyday life. Ultimately, they will strengthen their faith!
Written in a conversational style, this course plans for independent learning with real life examples, historical tidbits, and practical how-to-apply math knowledge.
Students complete Principles of Mathematics Book 1 in one year. Students work 30-45 minutes a day for 4 or 5 days a week. Older students use an accelerated schedule.
The curriculum consists of the Student Text and the Teacher Guide. The Student Text contains the lessons. The Teacher Guide contains all the worksheets, quizzes, and tests, along with an Answer Key and suggested schedule.
Are there any prerequisites for this course?
This curriculum best suits students in grades 6-8. It fits nicely into most math approaches the year or two years prior to starting high school algebra. If following traditional grade levels, Book 1 should be completed in grade 6 or 7, and Book 2 in grade 7 or 8.
- Note: Students who are in grade 7 or 8, and have completed Singapore Primary Mathematics Level 6A/6B, should go directly into Principles of Mathematics Book 2.
