The Railway Children
The Railway Children begins with Roberta, Peter, and Phyllis very happily living in a comfortable home. Surrounded by a cook, servants, and two loving parents, life was predictable. Until one unexpected knock and two men at the door mysteriously took away their father.
They can find no answers about their father’s whereabouts. So, the three children and their mother leave London, hoping to live in a small cottage in the countryside. They plan to seek a new life in the country, finding solace in the nearby railway station.
There, the children begin a series of exciting adventures, from saving a train filled with passengers from a landslide, to rescuing a baby from a fire, to aiding a penniless Russian exile, to eventually unraveling the mystery of their father’s disappearance.
Famous author Edith Nesbit first published this beloved children’s classic in 1906. This delightful book has charmed readers for generations.
