In Real Phonics Book 1, children learn the alphabet, then dive right into reading 97 vibrantly-illustrated stories with companion flash cards and writing practice pages. This book begins with a few letter sounds. Then, it gradually adds more letters as the stories become more complex.

What Is Included?
Book 1 includes alphabet worksheets, writing practice pages, cut-out flash cards, 97 full-color illustrated stories, and a Certificate of Achievement.
Children ages 4-7 learn to read simple stories by sounding out one-syllable words with the following:
- the short vowels A, E, I, O, U
- the consonants N, T, S, D, H, M, R, G, B, L, C, F
- the diagraph TH
- By the end of Book 1, your child will have learned to sound out and read 92 words. These words strictly follow the rules of phonics.
- Additionally, children learn four sight words.
