The Elusive Pimpernel
Set in Europe during the French Revolution, The Elusive Pimpernel is the seventh book chronologically in the Scarlet Pimpernel series.
In The Elusive Pimpernel, Citizen Chauvelin is given one more chance by the Revolutionary Government to catch the Scarlet Pimpernel (Sir Percy Blakeney). Desperate to do away with the daring hero, the Revolutionary Government grants Chauvelin nearly unlimited authority, finances and resources for one last attempt.
Having faced off with Sir Percy many times before, Chauvelin’s new plan is far more polished. This time, he does not plan to send the Scarlet Pimpernel directly to the guillotine. Instead, Chauvelin’s aim is to dishonor him — thus eliminating not only Sir Percy, but his entire league of compatriots.
To ensure success, he captures Percy’s beautiful wife Marguerite. Has Sir Percy’s luck run out at last? Has Chauvelin finally set the inescapable trap?
