Gentle Ben
Gentle Ben, a massive brown bear, might live alone in Alaska, but so does Mark Andersen. The Alaskan wilderness is a lonely place for them both. Gentle Ben finds Alaska lonely because a less than desirable man named Fog Benson captured him five years ago as a cub. Mark Andersen finds Alaska lonely because he still mourns the death of his older brother, Jamie.
Both are lonely and looking for companionship with little chance of finding it. When Mark returns from school, he goes to visit Ben. Mark brings Ben sandwiches and lets him have some sunshine as much as he can.
Mark begins wishing Ben could be his own bear. He knows just how to tickle Ben’s ears and scratch him under the chin. Mark has found someone else to love – Ben, an Alaskan brown bear so huge that no one else dares come near him.
Ben and Mark build a special bond together. Unfortunately, the townspeople want to destroy it. It is only through the strength of an enduring friendship that Ben and Mark have a chance of being saved.
