Questions about Beyond

Post by Marsha » Fri Jul 09, 2010 4:46 pm

Do we need anything to start this? Any folders, notebooks, ...anything?

Also, for history, it does just cover pilgrims, correct?

Thank you

Beyond is a wonderful program! It does spend a great deal of time with the pilgrims, but covers much more than that. You will actually go all the way to the pioneers traveling west and the transcontinental railroad.

As far as materials, I used one 3-ring binder and tab dividers. I labeled tabs for history/geography, science, poetry, and lang.arts. I put everything in sheet protectors. That was it for Beyond - one 1 in. 3-ring binder.

I'm not sure if the guide talks about using a binder for all the subjects, but it certainly wouldn't be a bad idea. I know we will have a Timeline that we will work on throughout the year, spelling words to work on throughout the week, a place to do copywork, and a need to have the child look at all the poems once a week. So a binder would probably be helpful, because it will keep everything in one place. :)
