Field trip ideas for Res2Ref and Rev2Rev

Post by jen_good » Fri May 01, 2015 6:02 pm

Hello,

Does anyone has any suggestions for field trips that they may have taken while using the above guides? We are in PA, but are keeping our options open for anything on the east coast :)

Thanks!
Jennifer

This is right down my alley! Well, that and cooking time-period food. Not many road trips for us, but this would be my bucket list for my kids and DH and I to visit. My favorite things to do for school. :) Excited to see more!

1. National Mall (Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, White House), National Archives (where US docs are stored), Robert E. Lee's House and Arlington Cemetery, National Museum of American History, and while you're there, Vietnam Veteran's Wall and US Holocaust Museum - Washington DC
2. Independence Hall, Carpenter's Hall, National Constitution Center, Declaration (Graff) House, Betsy Ross House, Elfreth's Alley, the Liberty Bell - Philadelphia
3. Mount Vernon (Washington's home) - Virginia
4. Biltmore Estate - Ashville, North Carolina
5. Savannah Historic District (Revolution and Civil War), Georgia
6. Plimoth Plantation - Massachusetts
7. Museum of Art at the Rhode Island School of Design - Rhode Island
8. Fort McHenry (where Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner - Maryland
9. Colonial Williamsburg (my dream), Civil War battle fields - Virigina
11. The Hermitage (Andrew Jackson's home), Belle Meade Plantation (horse farm started in 1700s), Carter House/Carnton Plantation (fascinating house-turned-Civil War Hospital), Tennessee State Museum (lots of Civil War stuff here), Fort Nashboro (can you tell this is my home yet?) - Nashville

You're lucky to be on the east coast! Everything is on that side of the US! Definitely all the ones that Julie mentioned, plus Washington, D.C. We went to Williamsburg about 7 years ago, it was WONDERFUL!!!

But since you're in PA., you've got Gettysburg and even Lancaster County. In Res.to Ref, there's several units towards the end about Anabaptists and the Amish. We lived in Lancaster many years ago and learned so much about that whole group. :)

Do you have any Renaissance Faires around you? Or a Dickens Festival?
