High School Credits?

Post by netpea » Tue Jun 14, 2011 9:31 am

Can someone please explain to me what the high school credits are for? Are they required in some states for Graduation, are they required for entrance to college? Here in MI, we have no requirements regarding credits for homeschoolers. When you feel your child is done you issue a diploma. I assumed that when my son finished his 12th grade year he would be done. I didn't have any plans to keep track of hours. Is it necessary to do that for applying for college?

here is the link for hslda and high school. you can also link to your state requirements through the hslda website. You may not have to count hours per your state but any college will want a transcript. Carrie has alot of good info for counting hours for credit in the high school sticky. HTH!

thank you, that is helpful. My oldest is only in 6th this fall but I didn't know I had to be conscious of credit hours. I will keep an eye on that as we move toward high school.
