Catalog brings character training

Post by moedertje » Tue Apr 05, 2011 3:48 pm

My dd 3, found the HOD catalog and yelled: 'Yeah, my new book is here! Did you get school books for me?' :D :D I had to laugh, she recognized the HOD catalog and sat on the couch for a good 20 minutes looking through it and enjoying! I had to practice self-control, patience, kindness etc. etc.
HOD is such a blessing in our family, even the catalog brings a smile to my kids :D :D

So funny! It's great to see the little ones so enthusiastic. My 4 year old is the same way. I ordered several catalogs (so I could share them with friends) and when the package came my daughter ripped it open and said LOOK AT ALL MY CATALOGS! I was thinking "NO they're MINE!" Oh yeah, wait, they're for sharing. Ok fine.

My four boys love the HOD catalog, too. I wonder where they got that from. :D I think my ds 10 has read it from cover to cover. The boys often grab it first thing in the morning and look at it together in bed, and the 3 yo looks through it and finds the LHTH guides and says, "This one me." I'm not sure who told him that. :? I wasn't planning on buying it, but am starting to reconsider. He already has the first verse of "A, A, Adam" memorized. His brothers taught him. I can see that he would have lots of fun with it.
Enjoying Heart of Dakota for our fifth year using:

Ds13-MtM
Ds11- RtR
Ds7- Bigger Hearts

What do your children do with the catalogs? Do they decorate them with markers?
I am just puzzled by these stories. Planning for next year is not something that interests my kids. :D  :D

Stanley sat on my lap looking at 'next years guide-LHFHG, and I showed him all the books we would be doing. He recognised the curriculum guide picture as looking like "his schoolwork BUT with TWO pages each day".He wanted to know what each box was-some he knew -like the bible study box -but he was thrilled he was getting TWO pages next year and was running round showing everyone how he was going to be doing MATHS next year.
I swapped with him :an older one for my very new one .
...not that I hoard them or anything  ....
He has taken it to his basket spaceship -just to look at some more :D
- Delighted to have used LHTH,LHFHG and Beyond, Bigger , Preparing and DITHOR
currently Using
LHTH slowly with my 2 year old
Starting Bigger with my 8 y/o About to add on DITHOR
Finishing Preparing with my 12year with ASD/LD
