Personally, I wouldn't recommend the extensions for your 9 year old if she is not a very strong reader. Bigger says it's for ages 7-9, extending to ages 10-11. If you are using DITHOR, I think that will be sufficient for improving her reading. I have a daughter who was 10 when she did Bigger and was a struggling reader, and I thought for sure she should use the extensions, but when we tried, it was just too much. The extension books are pretty advanced and meant for students who are already good independent readers. I focused instead on DITHOR , and Bigger as written, and her reading ability grew in leaps and bounds. Now at age 12, she is a very strong reader, testing above grade level.
