While this is not strictly a philosophy type question, I wanted to include this thread here as it is so relevant for larger families that may be pondering how HOD could work for them. :D

Here's a thread on why we work toward increasing independence as our guides progress, and why this doesn't mean that we are no longer interacting with our kiddos. Rather, we are shifting our teaching tasks to new types of teaching as our students mature. :D Link: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10939

Explanation of three possible pacings through the HOD guides as you look toward high school eventually and finding the right fit for your family. You'll have to scroll through the thread to find my thoughts, however the discussion in the whole thread is terrific as you look toward high school. :D

I really enjoy reading and researching these. It helps me so much. :D I, like most mom's, can't help but wonder about various other curriculums in various subjects. It helps me to hear that Carrie has tried these and why they did not work and the reasons for why they do choose certain products. Please, if possible, keep this thread up as it is invaluable to me. I've tried copying a lot of it and filing it away for future reference when I get that "greener grass syndrome."

I'm going to link this thread, as my post contains much information about our philosophy as we write the guides and about the Charlotte Mason influence within our guides. Link: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15380

It's been helpful to me as well as an HOD lurker. Everything I'm reading is making me really excited to try it out.
