CTC (supplies for the year)

Post by Marsha » Sat May 01, 2010 5:39 pm

I loved how there was the post with pictures and the steps of how to prepare for Bigger Hearts.
Is there anything(list or pictures) like this for CTC?

We are winding up CTC so I will let you know what I used.

One binder for the history notebooking pages
One binder with dividers for science and geography.
One notebook for Write with the Best
One notebook for English and dictation.
(Our notebooks fell apart, so I moved to a composition notebook and divided it into sections: dictation/english/write with the best) (it is holding up much better)
One folder to store the paintings in or (and I wish I would have done this--another mom did this and I loved the idea) a scrapbook album with pages and protectors already in it.

I could have purchased a really big binder instead of two smaller ones, but then it gets bulky. I hope you have fun gathering up all your supplies! That's one of my favorite parts of starting a new guide!

Will we need anything for index cards and timelines?
Also, can they use notebooks or will I need to make copies of thing to put in a binder?

Like Bigger Hearts- Will they need a notebook for History Notebooking; Science Notebooking; Science Experiments.
Also, will they need a Commonplace book (I bought leather journals)?
Will they be drawing the Science experiments like previous years?

I have the CTC manual here and I do know that the timeline is done on the CTC notebooking pages. The history notebooking also goes on the CTC notebooking pages. So you just need a binder to keep those in.

Hi,

Yes, they do need a common place notebook (I forgot that one and leather journals sound beautiful!)
The Science is like previous years--drawing the experiments/completing questions. If you wanted to use a notebook for that I am sure that would be fine. We like the binder with protective sleeves because it stays neater. I think we are really hard on notebooks over here. Another option, if you didn't want to get a binder, would be to purchase bound books with blank pages. There really is no copying of pages for CTC.

Hope this helps,
Jess

I have one more question....
Will they be copying a memory verse onto index cards?

No copying the memory verse onto index cards, but you will need index cards for other things (like copying the poem to glue onto the artwork for poetry).
