Prayer Request Please!

Post by SouthernMrs » Fri Jul 31, 2009 7:33 am

Hello Ladies,
I'd like to ask anyone on the board to pray for little Caitlyn today. She is a 5yo in our church who was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on her spine in April this year. She has been undergoing chemo treatments since May and today she is in surgery to have the tumor removed. There is a team of doctors working for 6 hours on her today. She will still have several months of chemo after this surgery.
I've been speaking with her mother about homeschooling her (per her request) and she has chosen to use HOD this fall with Caitlyn. They will begin Little Hearts this fall as Caitlyn recovers.
Please pray for doctors to have keen vision, wisdom and steady hands today as they remove this tumor (on top of 3 vertebrae). Pray for God's peace, comfort and strength for this family and for complete healing for Caitlyn.
May God be Glorified!
Thank you so much!
Charlene

Thank you so much for all the prayers. I would ask that you continue to pray as the Lord leads you...
Here is the update I just received...

1pm (Eastern Time): The surgeons are closing Caitlyn up now and she should be done in an hour or so. The surgeon said the operation went Extremely Well and they are pretty sure they got all the tumor if there is anything left it is microscopic. They didn’t have to put in any hardware but did have to take a couple of pieces of the vertebrae ....
Caitlyn will be sleeping in the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) for the next 18 hours.

A Huge Praise! And God is Awesome! Caitlyn's family would like to thank you all for praying Caitlyn through this and for all your continued prayers for the recovery and rest of the treatment she has to endure.
Praises to God the Great Physician!
God bless,
Charlene

Hello Ladies,
Any continued prayers are much appreciated on behalf of little Caitlyn as she recovers. I spoke with her grandma this morning and she was in tears as she had just heard that Caitlyn was in severe pain this morning and vomiting (due to meds). They will be putting her in a back brace to sit-up and thought they would do that today, but decided due to her pain to let her rest today. They want to get her up asap though.
Thanks so much!!

I have come down with a "summer cold" so I haven't been on the computer, but anyway, just thought you wonderful Praying Ladies would like to hear this! And thank you again for your prayers.

One more update on Caitlyn...
Caitlyn is out of PICU and in a regular room now. Praising the Lord!

Quote from her mom:
"Caitlyn's surgery went extremely well. The surgeons said several times that it "couldn't have gone any better". When I responded, "well, Caitlyn had ALOT of people praying for her!" The surgeon responded, "well, we'd like to have their names and phone numbers, because whatever they did worked!" Thank you for your continued prayers on her behalf!"

Please continue to uplift her in your prayers, especially for pain management. Also, please pray for the physical therapists as they work with her to advance her range of motion and as they try to get her sitting up.

Thank you so much!!

God is good!
Blessings,
Charlene
