Introducing Myself

Hello, I am a mom to 3 very active boys. They are 12 1/2, 7, and 4 years old. First I wish I had known about HOD with my oldest way back when we started our homeschooling journey. Life would have been much simpler. But I'm forever thankful to have discovered it this year. I've been using BLHFHG with my 7 year old and my 4 year old is working through LHTH with my mom guiding him. They are both awesome books. I have not used BLHFHG completely with DS but plan to order BHFHG for next year. I will use it completely. The only thing extra we will do is to continue with our "reading" through the Bible with all the boys, Saxon Math, and working through "Story of the World" with all the boys. I am going to keep my oldest DS on the track he is currently working. But the younger two are definitely going full-blown on HOD. I'm so excited to finally find a curriculum that I love, they love and we can jump into with both feet. I look forward to getting to know all of you better as we share our journey of homeschooling our children.

We live in Texas having moved here about 17 months ago from Virginia Beach, VA. We love living out in the country. We never thought we would hear our boys say "Are we going into town today?" LOL We are planning a big garden for the spring and just ordered 12 baby chickens to start our own egg production. I'm discovering my "country" roots. Too funny, me a city girl with "country" roots!!

Thanks again Carrie for a great family friendly, Christ centered curriculum!!

Welcome Angie! We just started BLHFHG this week with my 7 yr old dd!

We live in the country too. Going to town is an event as it's 17 miles to anything!

WAHHHHH I want chickens for eggs too, but I don't know what I'll do with them after they're done laying. I just can't fathom doing the unmentionable! LOL! And...I haven't figured out how NOT to have my cat in their area.

Welcome! So glad you made it. I understand completely about wishing it was sooner! :o

I wanted to say that we also had some things we were in the middle of and did not want to quit as well. And we also do a chronological reading of the Bible with some related study on the side. We are loving how it all fits together for us and that we have the time to have that focus and still have a program for us that we love. We intend to continue with that throughout our entire school experience. And we plan on staying with HOD as long as Carrie keeps writing them.

Welcome and congrats on finding something that works well for your family! :D

Yet another country gal here! We have a garden too, and that has been an experiment in itself. Last year, we planted 3 pumpkin seeds and had at least 15 pumpkins that were GIGANTIC, about 2-3 feet in diameter each. They were fun to carve... not as fun for hubby to mow around since they actually outgrew our garden - which is about 20 x 40 feet (I didn't choose the size - it was sectioned off when we bought it!). Anyway, I loved reading your HOD story, and I'm so glad you are here! We're doing Bigger..., LHFHG, and DITHOR this year and loving it. Can't wait to get to know you more!

Angie,

Hello and welcome, so glad you are here!

Oh I am so envious that you are able to actually speak about "going into town". While we live in a really great city here in CA. I would give anything to have many acres loaded with trees and wild flowers. And to be able to have some chickens and other animals would really do it for me! So, please keep us updated on those chickens!

I am a mom of two girls, a 4 year old and a 9 month old. We are going through "Little Hands" and could not be happier. Carrie has really managed to pull together such a unique, Christ centered curriculum. Such a wonderful way to make our way through our homeschooling journey.

Look forward to learning more about you and your family.

Candice

Welcome to the boards!

I however am bucking the trend.... I grew up in the country and I live on the edge of town. I can walk to downtown if I want, takes a while but possible. We have 2 acres so we have a garden, but I ain't going back to the farm. No siree!
We used to have pond water growing up and we purified it ourselves. I had to go out on the ice in the winter to sink new water lines... I like having city water.

I'm only half serious, I miss the farm too. Somedays I even think, dare I say it, that I might move back.

Angie,

So glad you're enjoying "Beyond..." and "Little Hands..." this year. We did both of those last year with our second and third sons. Your country living sounds wonderful. I loved growing up on a farm, but am a rural city girl now.

Welcome to the boards! :D We're so glad you're here! The ladies on the board are very uplifting and encouraging, which makes this a great place to be.

Blessings,
Carrie

Greetings and welcome..

What ever you do.. don't tell the Lord "I will Never Live In The Suburbs!!!"

This rambling country gal misses her woods and stream cutting though the back yard. I do love my house and hope some day God will let me live in a nice house in the countryside. Until then I square foot garden and dream of having backyard chickens, I know the City Animal guy would Climb the fence and confiscate them like he did my friend down the street.. just as they started laying.

Angie and Tansy!
Where in Texas are you? I am in the DFW area and always on the lookout for more homeschoolers using HOD. I have convinced 2 moms in my area but would love to meet more!
