well, Little Hearts and Beyond use the Hide Em in Your Heart CDs which include verses from several popular translations. But for everything else, we use NIV or NIrV.

We use the Holman's (because it has good pictures and archeology etc) and ESV because it is accurate and easy to understand, plus it is what I use and like it. Then the kids have NKJV. We also use the Chronological Narrated Bible as well. Often we look it up in many and memorize from just one. It works no matter what you use because just the reference is in the manual and not the actual verse. I think you can use whatever you are comfortable with as far as teaching.
All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children. Isaiah 54:13

Re: What Bible version do you use with the lesson?
My boys all have their own Bibles-they are the Adventure Bible and the Adventure Bible for young readers and they are NIV and NIrV. My personal favorite translation is my RSV, but that's from when I was in grade school *coughcough* so it's kinda old. I do like my Harper-Collins NRSV with the apocraphya and concordance, but the boys don't like to bring it to the table because "it's so heavy, mom!!!: lol!

Re: What Bible version do you use with the lesson?
My dd reads from her NIrV, and I read to her from the NIV since many of the questions in the guide ask "what does _____ mean?"...usually that word is not in the NIrV since it's simplified for younger readers-- so my dd uses her Bible to figure out what the verse in my Bible means and answer questions.

We mostly use and memorise from the NKJV. But that is one of the things that I love about HOD (and there are many! ), you can use whatever bible version you are comfortable using and what works best for your families convictions! Personally I love the NKJV, my hubby doesn't and preferes the NLT. However I think we have currently 8 or 9 translations in our home and like almost all of them.

Yeah, I was wondering if HOD used a certain version to go along with the guides & specific lessons throughout. We just started Monday so I wasn't sure. We did our memory verse from NIV but the words on the CD were different and my daughter asked my why.My dd reads from her NIrV, and I read to her from the NIV since many of the questions in the guide ask "what does _____ mean?"...usually that word is not in the NIrV since it's simplified for younger readers-- so my dd uses her Bible to figure out what the verse in my Bible means and answer questions.

The Hide Em in Your Heart CD that goes with LHFHG uses a variety of Bible translations. The translation for each verse is listed behind it on the case and in the liner papers included in the CD.
At our house, we often just learn the verses in LHFHG the way they are sung on the CD.
Blessings,
Carrie

I should have also mentioned that for the bible/history reading in LHFHG we use the Family TIme Bible, just the NKJV for the memory verse. And we love the Hide Em' in Your Heart CD.

I agree with holyhart that we use and love The Family-Time Bible for the history portion of LHFHG. It is beautiful and has been a long-time favorite of all my kiddos.

The Hide "Em in Your Heart CDs for LHFHG and Beyond use several different versions. THe CD insert lists the verses and which version they are from. I got one of those spiral bound index card notebooks and copied the verses for each week into it, using the versions that match the CD. That's what I refer to each week for the bible verse.1GirlTwinBoys wrote:Yeah, I was wondering if HOD used a certain version to go along with the guides & specific lessons throughout. Oh darn! Our original CD case broke and I had to put the CD in a new case so I threw the insert away. The new case is different and wouldn't hold the insert. The Hide "Em in Your Heart CDs for LHFHG and Beyond use several different versions.
