I received all my books for Preparing today!

Post by LynnH » Thu Mar 12, 2009 4:54 pm

I ordered Sunday night and received my order today. Everything looks so great. My ds started looking through it and got so excited. He is concerned he won't be able to draw good enough for the draw and write thru history since his hands shake so much, but I assured him it didn't have to be perfect.

We will be first time homeschoolers so we won't start with HOD until the end of August. Not sure how we will wait that long. Since I am an avid reader, my dh is wondering how many of the books I will have already read by the time we start. I am really going to try and not read them so that I can experience the fun right along with my ds.

Lynn,

I'm so glad that you received your box! :D I have a hard time keeping myself from diving in when I get new things too.

I'm not sure whether tracing might be something that would be an option to help your little guy with the Draw and Write at first? Many kiddos do trace in the beginning just to get a good feel for how to draw and to alleviate their fears that it has to be "just like the picture" in the book. I wasn't sure with your little sweetie's tremor if tracing might be a good option, or if it would just cause more comparison on his part. Anyway, just a thought. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Carrie,
I think tracing will help some. He does that with other drawing books he has. The funny thing is he loves to draw even though it is tough for him. He is worried he won't be able to stay in the lines when he colors, because that is something that is also hard to do, but I think once he is home and doesn't have to worry about what other kids think of his coloring he will relax and be ok with whatever he does.
