IEW old vs new edition

Post by Mgs » Tue Apr 25, 2023 6:13 pm

I have an older manual for res to ref 2014. Is it okay to use any version of IEW medieval writing?

If you don't use what is scheduled in the guide you have, you will have to figure out your own schedule.

You will need BOTH the TM and Student Book to match each other, whether it is the version in the guide or not (do not try to mix and match).

Have you used an older guide too? Are you able to find student books to match older manual?

No. I bought a guide with both books, then, as the copyright in the front allowed, I copied the Student Book for each child, so I've never had to update.

Sadly, IEW doesn't seem to stock many extra copies of the Student books when they update, so people are forced to update both books instead of just needing another student book for subsequent children (or for resale). I strongly recommend purchasing enough books for all your children (and possibly one to resell with the guide) or copying (if that is still allowed).

The hard part with a used guide is that it can be very hard, if not impossible to get a set that matches the guide. Many people in that situation end up creating their own schedule for whatever edition they get. (Or deciding to purchase a new guide and IEW from HOD.)

Ok that helps! I may just buy new and simply do a lesson each time it’s scheduled. Do they skip some lessons or use the whole program?

They skip a couple of units, and possibly a few lessons in a couple others. It's been a couple of years, so I'm not sure which ones. (2 in CTC now, so we'll be joining you in RTR by next January.)

Blessings,

Ok thank you, I found a few sets of 2012, which should work for my manual.
