Help with scheduling out our day

My oldest son is finishing up WG guide and then will move into WH in the Fall. He will be a sophomore. That is going well but I need to work on doing a better job of consistently checking in with him and grading.

My next two I believe will fit into Preparing well together. My 11 yr old will be 6th grade, however he is not very independent and my goal is to move him towards that independence. He has vision issues, dyslexia and some ADHD. He can read but doesn't like to. His reading level is around 2nd/3rd grade. I am working through Sound Bytes this summer with him to build his confidence. My husband does shared reading with my 9 and 11 yr old every night too. They are reading through the Action Bible together. He is improving.

Onto my 9yr old. He will be 4th grade and is very independent and he loves to read! I was thinking of starting them on Preparing half speed until they get comfortable with how HOD works. This would be thier first yr with HOD. We are a long time homeschooling family and have done CC for the past 9yrs. Our oldest graduates on Sat. CC worked well for her but CH was not a good fit for my oldest son so we moved him to HOD last year for High School. He has loved the World Geography guide. And I can see with my 9 and 11 yr old that they need that gentle move towards independence. I also work from home part time.

For Grammer my plan is to put my 11 yr old into R&S 4 and my 9 yr old in R&S 3. Does that sound good? And DITHOR not sure where to start them.

My youngest is 6 and will be in 1st grade. I will do LHFHG with her and feel like it will be a great year for her!

So back to what a day looks like in those guides and checking in with my 10th grader. I would really appreciate some ideas on how to schedule our day. And does it sound like I placed them well?

I have somewhat similar aged children, with my oldest starting WH this week and my youngest on Unit 25 of LHFHG. I will admit I am not perfect at checking my oldest's work. I do make her bring me her work as she completes it, and I do take a few notes on things. But, I have not gone back and converted those notes to grades so she has a report card for 9th grade/WG! But the checklist is definitely a lifesaver for me! I do a single page with spots for all four kids. Each side of the page is one week of school/one unit of the upper guides. So I only have 18 pieces of paper to go through to figure out my daugher's grades! I hope to do that next month.

As for grammar, I would use the placement test available at Milestone Books. I know CC includes some diagramming, so your placement might be correct. But it never hurts to check!

As for DITHOR, if you are doing Preparing, I would do the 2/3 workbook. And then pick the book pack that matches their reading level. Your older one could probably do the 4/5 workbook, but since you are still working on dyslexia stuggles, keeping the written work simplier is likely beneficial!

But I would also likely call HOD and ask them. Julie often gets on here and replies, but since she is so busy homeschooling her boys and answering phone calls, you will likely get their opinion faster if you can and leave a message.
