Re: written narr. with dyslexia/dysgraphia
My son only has dysgraphia, but he has always typed his narrations instead of writing them. He has some short term memory issues also so he has done things such as taking short notes while reading or underlining key things he wants to remember. I know there are some software programs or apps that are for dyslexia that help with word prediction. Some of them are very expensive, but the apps for the Ipad are more reasonable. What specifically is the main struggle? Is it the physical act of writing, getting thoughts to paper or something else?

Re: written narr. with dyslexia/dysgraphia
It's the physical act of writing it down, forming the letters takes so much thought. Also, he can't spell at all so that is frustrating to him. When I mean can't spell, I mean, that he forgets the my is not spelled mi, and sometimes with write u for a, as in went to a store-but not always. He either speaks it into his iPad or tells me and I write it. However, it seems that it's pretty much the same thing as an oral narration that way?

He doesn't have trouble with comprehension, etc.

Is he able to type at all? I would definitely work on that. Like I said there are apps or software that have intelligent spelling correction and advanced word prediction. I know one is Co:Writer, but I know there are others. Also you could move to something that is a voice recognition like Dragon naturally speaking or google speech to text so that it is writing his words and then he would need to edit it, that makes it a little more like a written narration. His dyslexia might make the editing frustrating though. I agree that what he is doing now is pretty much the same as oral narration.

Re: written narr. with dyslexia/dysgraphia
We aren't in Preparing quite yet (finishing up Bigger), but what I was planning to do with my dysgraphic/dyslexic son is have him dictate his narration to me, edit with my help on what I have transcribed, and then copy with the corrections onto his own paper. I feel like this will be good enough to start, and then we will evaluate when he is ready to start writing it completely on his own. I would imagine that his dictated narrations will be longer than his beginning written narrations. I will probably only expect 1-2 sentences written at first. I also have considered alternating the dictated narrations with completely on his own to phase them in a little more gradually.

Re: written narr. with dyslexia/dysgraphia
Wow! I have 2 children with this diagnosis. When my now 13 year old was in CTC, I helped him take notes on the History reading. I read it aloud to him. He then took those notes and types the written narration on the computer. He can do written narrations independently now in Res2Ref, but he does not enjoy it.
My 9 year old son is in Preparing. He also has ADHD and is not yet medicated. He dictates the narration to me and I write it. His dysgraphia is more serious than my older son's was.
