What boxes in AH1 are MOST elective?

As we get to the second half of high school, I'm needing to be more selective in the electives we have *with* HOD so that my dd can enjoy her personal interests *outside* of HOD. We simply don't have the time to "do it all" with her interests. What is considered truly elective other than the Spanish? Government? Constitutional Literacy? What is the most demanding of the choices? She has 3 BIG outside elective courses that she is taking through tutoring and we really must pair back HOD.

I think it friends on what your state requires. For most states, foreign language is required, so unless you are doing another language, Spanish wouldn't be elective. Similarly, many states require government or constitutional literacy, so you most likely don't need both but you do need one of them. I know the living library is optional but recommended (it didn't even count for any credits). You could consider Bible to be elective depending on what else your child does outside of the house.

It does depend on what their post high school plans are and what if they are going to college what is the college looking for. I also don't consider Spanish an elective since every 4 year college I have ever looked at wanted at least 2 years of the same foreign language. In fact the only reason my dd didn't have to take foreign language in college was because she had taken 3 years of French. If she had only had 2 years she would have had to take a placement test and take at least 1 year. Community college would be different. Ohio requires 1/2 credit of Government. I think most states are similar so I would consider either constitutional literacy or government the "most" elective. As the pp mentioned Bible is also an elective and I have heard that some secular colleges will only count 1 credit in bible when they are adding up total credits earned in high school. You will know your spiritual goals for your dc and if you think bible is needed or if you are achieving those goals in ways outside of school. Depending on post high school goals and what level math has been completed math can actually be an elective, but that is usually for senior year. My ds is doing Pre-calculus along side the US1 guide. He has met all the requirements for math by completing up through Algebra 2, but our state is soon going to a requirement of 4 years of math so I want him to have 1 more year of math, but it doesn't have to be Pre-calculus.

Thank you for helps. Yes, we have foreign language covered. :) I'm trying to decide what else can be considered elective.
