State Study and/or Signers?

Post by LeAnna » Sun Jan 03, 2016 12:10 am

I'm trying to decide whether or not to add these to my Revival to Revolution package. Does it add to the day quite a bit? Do your kids enjoy these studies? Do you do one and not the other? Please help me decide! :)
Love my husband of 18 years this year;
Love my 3 teenagers--13, 15, and 16. They keep me young, but hanging on for dear life! :lol:
Used HOD in the earliest years with all three of them!

We did both and my son enjoyed both. Neither one adds that much to the day. The Signers is where the Research component is so I felt it was pretty vital for teaching them to pull out specific information from a reading. It also had some very fascinating information about the men who signed the Declaration of Independence. We saw the Declaration in Washington DC this past summer and even 3 years later my son still remembered a few things and he was very excited about seeing it and all the signatures. I am sure that is because he felt like he had a connection with it. The State Study was information I wanted him to know plus there were some general concepts that he then had on standardized testing.

This is good to know! I think I will go ahead with it. We just moved this year, so we have a new state to study! Thanks!

This was a favorite part of my son's day. It was excellent skills training. My son looked forward to this part of his day, and he would often share what he had learned. This was a successful part of his day. It didn't take long either.

Riley is enjoying both of these now in RevtoRev. You can see some pics and comments about how much he is enjoying it in the HOD Weekly Check-In...
