History for Little Pilgrims question
History for Little Pilgrims question
Are we supposed to have our dc complete the reviews at the end of each chapter like Words to Know, Something to Do, and Unit Review? I've been going over some of it orally but that's about it. Is this ok or are we supposed to do EVERYTHING listed on the review page? Thanks!

Re: History for Little Pilgrims question
No, you do not have to do those. Carrie lists the pages she intends for you to do in the guide. The reviews are not necessary.

Ok thank you! I wasn't sure because the review pages are listed within the page ranges Carrie gives in the guide each day.

Re: History for Little Pilgrims question
They aren't assigned but I did go over them with my sons when we did LHFHG. They were within the pages read so I did them. Very informally and more like conversationally and I would write the answers in the book. They enjoyed doing them but I think all we ever did was those few (maybe 5-6) fill in the blank ?'s at the end of the sections. I often went over the words to know before I started reading to make sure they would understand them in context. Again very informal. So while it wasn't necessary, I did do them. I think it helped my younger guy who started LHFHG at 4 turning 5 for me to go over the Words to Know before reading.

Re: History for Little Pilgrims question
I think it is up to you. I definitely wouldn't stress if your child can't answer them, etc. Some of them (especially in History Stories for Children) are fairly detailed. But often I would find 1 or 2 to ask that would lead more to a narration of what we had just read.

I always did them. It was fun and the boys never minded it. I didn't stress if they couldn't answer, I just modeled how to answer a question like that.

Re: History for Little Pilgrims question
It would appear that I am the only one who skips them LOL. My dd is VERY chatty so I rarely have to ask her any questions ever and she always gives me the full run down - everything And then when dad comes home she tells him all about her day too

Re: History for Little Pilgrims question
We skipped it as well. I have two in LHFHG (just finishing up!) and my youngest, (5-6yo this past school year) has a had a harder time narrating (although getting a tiny bit better at the end of the year) and the extra work would have been too much for her. I try to save the narrating for the storytime. My oldest (7-8 yo this past school year) probably would have been fine with it.

Re: History for Little Pilgrims question
We've always skipped all the in book questions unless it told us otherwise in the guide.
Re: History for Little Pilgrims question
Thank you everyone for your replies! I've been going over the questions and words to know briefly but informally so I'll continue to do that as time allows since several of you seem to do the same thing
