I have searched, but I'm still a little confused about how to beef up MTMM for 9th. It seems to me that there are plenty of hours as written for history to count it as 1 credit. I was planning to call it Modern American History. The Storytime titles are listed as highly recommended, but not required. Do I really need to add the extension package? My plan is to have her read the Basic Package titles as she is not terribly interested in historical readers. I do plan to add A Bluestocking Guide to Economics to count .5 credits for Economics. I will have her do the Advanced Package Science from Rev to Rev with her brother and count 1 credit Physical Science. She's going to be using Teaching Textbooks Geometry for 1 credit. She's also taking Literature and Writing and Spanish from co-op. So to sum up:
1 credit Modern American History
.5 credit Economics
1 credit Physical Science
1 credit Geometry
1 credit Literature and Writing outside class
1 credit Spanish outside class
1 credit Bible
.5 credit Piano outside class
.5 credit Art outside class and Nature Journaling from Guide
Does this look like it will work?
Thanks, Joanne

I asked about this awhile back. Here's my post. A few people replied about it.

Re: MTMM for 9th grade
I would not consider the history credit worthy without doing at least the storytime titles. I don't think the hours would be enough or really the rigor either. The questions that go with the storytime titles add an element of making more connections and some deeper thinking questions that go along with Bloom's taxonomy. Whether you do the extensions or not more depends on how fast of a worker your dd is. You may have enough hours without doing those.

Re: MTMM for 9th grade
I would highly recommend the story time books. They added so much to our year. I also think the American Testimony DVDs are a must have for high school (from the extension package). Are you doing the President study? Those DVDs really added to the connections my children made this year as well.

Re: MTMM for 9th grade
I am definitely adding the storytime titles. I just didn't know if it was necessary to do the extensions. She will also be doing the President's Study. When I add up the hours, I get over 6 hrs a week just for the History portion. Part of the Problem is, I am trying to divide up my hours to report to her school. She is enrolled in an ALE. She needs a minimum amount of hours, and her hours must all be put towards earning credit. Her Spanish and Writing class cannot be included in these hours because they are taken elsewhere.
Here is what I'm counting:
Reading about History 30 min x 4 days 2 hrs
History Project 20 min x 3 days 1 hr
President Study 20 min x 3 days 1 hr
Worth Words 40 min
Timeline/Geography 40 min
Independent History Study 20 min x 4 days 1 hr 20 min
Storytime 20 min x 4 days 1 hr 20 min
Would it be reasonable to count this as 8 hours towards History/Literature? She will fulfill her English credit with a co-op class, but I can't include the hours for her school learning plan.
Thanks for the help. I apologize if I'm not making sense.
