highlight Scripture in CTC

Post by Gwenny » Thu Jul 17, 2014 6:28 am

In the Bible quiet time it says, "Scripture Focus: Highlight Genesis 6:9. So, that literally means to highlight it in her Bible? I wasn't sure if it was that or it was just the focus. :)

My dd highlights the passages in her bible. She also marks her bible when we do the assignments for Genesis: Finding Our Roots.

If you didn't want them to mark up their Bible, you could purchase an inexpensive student or gift type Bible for their school studies. We just ordered a cheaper gift Bible for about five dollars or so, when my older ones went through CTC. There are quite a few in various different price ranges, which is helpful. :)

For some reason I read "highlight" as, what we are "putting the emphasis on", not physically highlighting. Weird how our minds can work. :)

Good question! :D Yes, it does mean to actually highlight the Scripture in the Bible. :D This has been such a neat thing to do! Our sons will often page through their Bibles and find the highlighted parts to reread, reflect upon, or even copy in b-day, sympathy, etc. cards. It is a neat 'road-map' of all of the places they have been in the Bible. On a side note, I struggled with writing/highlighting in my Bible at first. Now I find, my notes and highlighted portions are so dear to me. My Bible will someday be a keepsake to my dc because my journey with the Lord is there. My parents have a few comments in theirs, and how I pour over those now.

In Christ,
Julie

We use erasable colored pencils for the highlighting. I did buy my daughter a new Bible just for this purpose. Actually, I buy a new one every year in a different translation, so that she will have a set for reference in the future.
