The Reading Lesson question

Post by Tooactiveboys » Thu Jun 12, 2014 9:23 pm

We are using the reading lesson and my son really likes it. I am not sure that I fully understand the instructions for some of the activities.

What am I supposed to do with the random letters at the top of lesson 4 pg 6? Same thing lesson 3 page 6?

Are the random letters at the top of lessont 3 pg 4 a continuation of the previous page instructions? Hunt and find all the letters that say a certain sound...

Lesson 5 pg 18. The "d and b" page, are the kids supposed to fill in the vowel on the left hand column, or just notice that the words have d and b in them? All of the above? It says exercise for b and d but no instructions for what to teach regarding b and d.

So sorry that theses may be very obvious to others, but I would appreciate y'all sharing with me

It is not obvious to me either! So hopefully someone can explain :)

I'm not home right now to look at my book but I believe that the child reads each sound to you as a review of all the sounds they have learned so far. That's how I've used it with my children. I just put my finger under each letter and they tell me the sound. HTH!

Yes, that's correct. The child is supposed to put his finger under each letter and say the sound of that letter, moving from left to right and down the rows.

It's the same thing...the child will move from left to right and say the sounds of the letters (b or d) and then sound out the word containing those letters. Since those two letters are very hard to differentiate for most children they devoted an entire page just to practice recognizing those two sounds :)
