Teacher manual

Post by Tina » Tue Mar 25, 2014 2:37 pm

Hi I am new to hod.. I plan to use this program for my 5 year old son, we used bju this year for sk... I like the program, but my son drags his feet and complains when he has to do school:(
I am hoping this program will take the pressure off, so it will be more like play than the tradition way of doing school..

My question is... I want to use the little hearts for his glory, my plan is to do the grade 1 math and science, the online manual is all written for sk... If I order will mine be designed for grade 1?? Or do I have to customize the activity suggestions to meet his grade level..

You would do the same activity for science, I'm not positive about the math. If I remember correctly the page numbers for the grade 1 science text are in the back of the manual and there is also a schedule for the grade 1 math book.

So first, I recommend sticking with the K science book. The activities are the same regardless, and it is just easier to use the K book as the page numbers are right there and assign better.
As for may, at the end of the book there is a schedule for 1A and 1B. There are not activities for these in the guide, but the pacing is there. The fine motor skills box contains the information for both K and 1st grade. And phonics is genetic since you go at your child's pace.

We are using it note for 1st grade, and it is working perfectly. The left side of the guide is definitely fine for 1st grade as written.

So the math and science activities go together with all 3 grades??
I want school to be a bit more laid back, that is why I don't want to advance to blhfhg.. I just want to use a lot of the activity suggestions:)
if they work together with the grade one workbooks, then I think I'm ready to place my first order:)!!!

The Beyond guide has the math activities scheduled in it to go along with Singapore 1a/1b so if you are wanting to use those, then you might consider also purchasing that guide to use along side LHFHG. HTH!

I would highly recommend purchasing the Beyond guide for the math activities for Singapore 1A and 1B. You can still get the discount for buying the complete Beyond program next year if you let them know that you purchased it from them early.

I looked at the gr 1 math activities in the beyond guide, I would really like to use them. But lhfhg suits my son better, I am considering buying that extra guide, but I'm wondering if the grade 1 math activities would be in the appendix of lhfhg??

No. There is a schedule for using the 1A and 1B workbook and textbook in the back of LHFHG. The activities are only in Beyond. With the activities you only use the workbooks, you don't need the textbooks.

The only problem with getting the Beyond guide now.....you will hardly be able to wait until he finished LHFHG to get to it! haha I love LHFHG, but I also love Beyond. I have that problem with all of them, I can't wait until we get to the next because it looks so good. My kids all love their guides. My daughter in Preparing has said several times that she's excited to do school. Love it!
