Jashub's Journal

Post by LivinNandByHim » Mon Jan 13, 2014 4:43 pm

This is the kind of deep thinking and Godly principles that I love about HOD aided by the Holy Spirit's insight. I admit that conviction was working on me during my discussion with my son. These are the godly thoughts and insight I hope
And want to see instilled in my son as God molds him into the leader he is called to be. Without our discussing the assignment, his answers were terse and not directed to the point. But the beauty of homeschooling is that discussion time and life application. Now, to get my heart in line. ;-)

p36 Abib ... God's Wisdom.....
Question: how would this solution be fair to the victim?
Answer: His property is restored plus another camel for pain and suffering; restores attitude of respect and humility toward victim (or at least points the way).

Question: How is this solution an appropriate penalty for theft?
Answer: Provides the victim with his property. Forces the thief to give of himself, and puts him in the place of the victim. Brings down pride and selfishness, encourages respect and humility toward mankind (or at least, points the way).

We've loved using this book! ;) It's really given us such a great insight into Old Testament laws. Helped us to see them in a real-life way! ;)

What a great discussion time with your ds! :D I have yet to find a Biblical lesson my dc are learning in regard to Godly character traits that I myself am not in need of hearing as well. It is humbling and also a reminder of how much we need the Lord. I find that this admission on my part often leads to my ds recognizing and sharing his need for the Lord too. It is difficult to work on Godly character traits alone - how much better to work on it together. I am glad the Lord is at work in your heart and in your ds's, and I truly enjoyed reading your ds's heartfelt, wise answers here. Thank you for sharing, and I am looking forward to some of these discussions as I begin RTR with my second ds this week! :D :D :D
