Successful first day!

Post by StillJulie » Mon Aug 19, 2013 5:26 pm

Quite pleased with how our day went! We've always started back full speed, do units in M-F weeks, start in August & finish in May, etc. (I guess I'm rather Type A.)

Some changes I made this year...

Last year I worked from oldest to youngest each day. This year I started with my son in Preparing, then went on to the youngest two, and then my daughter in Beyond. The oldest two interrupted occasionally for narrations/questions/check ins, which works well for us.

Also, we took a 20 minute break at 10:00 to do some phy ed... Family Time Fitness (which I won on a blog giveaway).

We started at 8, took a 30 minute lunch break at 12:30. I finished with the last one at 3:45. That was long, but not too different from last year, so not unexpected. Hopefully as we get into the swing of things, I can shave some time off to get done closer to 3.

Thanks again, Carrie, for such a WONDERFUL curriculum! We all LOVE it!

Awesome! That sounds like a great first day and great timing for all you have going on. I love that you had some family fitness time too. I keep thinking we need to incorporate that into our day especially for me! I'm still in the schedule planning phase so that's something I'll have to ponder. Congratulations on a fantastic first day! :D
