PHFHG 2nd time?

We have gotten near the end of Preparing and I discovered ds couldn't really remember a lot of what we had gone over at the beginning. Has anyone done preparing twice? Ds is 11 and we have the extensions which we used because he reads so well we still need to complete English 5 and math 5b. When we do, I am wondering if we should just start Preparing over again and use 6th grade math and English? Then what happens to science? I dont want to hold him back but don't want to "miss" important things. I think there may have been too much happening with moving in the middle of the year, special trips and finishing treatment. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about it. He will cover the same time period in greater depth through the next 4 guides.

I would not repeat it. Preparing is meant to be an introduction to world history. I know Carrie has said that Preparing gives them hooks to hang future information on. They aren't expected to have full mastery of the information. In CTC he will go over the beginning information that is in Preparing in much more detail and add to that information. You may be very surprised as he goes through CTC how much he really does remember as he goes through the information again. Then as was mentioned the next 3 guides after CTC will cover the rest of the time periods in Preparing. Then he will get it again in the World History guide in High School. With each guide and as he gets older the information will build on the information learned previously.

Just make sure as he goes through CTC that he is doing all the activities as written in the guide. That will also help with retention.
