Who is doing MTMM?

Since we have a who is doing Rev to Rev topic I thought I would post this. Sometimes it does feel like once you get to the older guides that there aren't near as many people doing them. I know it has helped me in the past to know others that are doing the same guide that if we get stuck on what a project looks like I can ask them if they have done it. So who will be doing MTMM this year and if you are doing it are you doing it as is or beefing it up for high school?

My son is doing MTMM right now, and will finish at the end of Sept. he will start the new Geo guide in October for his freshman year. :) He just turned 15, and we used MTMM for 8th grade. we "held him back" in the beginning because he was a very young kid compared to others. We have enjoyed M TMM because of some great themes and more teacher interaction to discuss those topics.

We really don't do the crafty projects, though, as he is at the older end of the guide. I went through and highlighted the history project boxes that I wanted him to complete, and they only include the ones that involve reading or research. I'm sure we will do the projects when my middle boys get to MTMM.

ETA: I will be rewarding a 1/2 credit for the evolution study done at the end of MTMM. I contacted the publisher about grade level and credit worthiness. We are adding some AIG materials.

We are doing MTMM this year for my daughter for her freshmen year. We are finishing a few things in Rev2Rev, but should start MTMM early September. I am adding chemistry DVD, R C Sproul econmics, and Shakespeare study. She is excited to start school.....we start next week with our fall schedule as I am doing some school year around.

We are doing MTMM with extensions for my son's 9th grade year. We are adding in economics, health & I am planning on purchasing the geo guide for the literature. We are EXCITED. :D I have been reading all the books & can't wait until my son gets to them - we always have such great discussions!

We are planning to start MTMM after Labor Day (for high school, 11th grade). We're adding Apologia Chemistry (since we've been doing Apologia science all along), and grade level math, and French, as well as Polished Cornerstones for Bible. :)

My oldest will start on August 19th (provided I have the needed materials in hand by then), for eighth grade. She's used HOD starting with Bigger. It's been a delight to work through these guides... such excellent book choices.

For math, we'll finish up Singapore's Discovering Mathematics 7B (since we've started it), and then move on to the Foerster's Algebra.

My 10th grader will be using it this year with "beef ups." It will be his first time using HOD and we or at least I am very excited.

There are quite a few of us doing MTMM. That is good to know. We are calling this 8th grade for my ds. He would be going into 9th if he was still in ps, but he is young and with the CP we decided to slow down a little bit before calling it high school.

Hi, Lynn,
I am doing MtMM with my twins, who will be in 8th grade this year! I think we will be starting on Monday! We have been using HOD since they were in 3rd grade and we started with Bigger Hearts. Each year gets better and better. :D

Grant will be using MTMM this year for 8th grade. :) We have a little to finish up on Rev2Rev, so we're going to be doing that 1st. I'm guessing it will be mid-September when we start MTMM.

I am in deep clean/organize mode here to get ready for school. If you're in my house, and you're not nailed down, you better look out this week!

:D Kathleen

Kathleen,
I wondered if Grant was doing MTMM this year. I am amazed you got as far as you did in Rev to Rev last year. I have been in clean out organize mode also.

We are doing MTMM this year with my 8th grade daughter. This is our first year using HOD and I am very excited! I've been pouring over this board and the books for months :D We will start the first week of September. We are using it as is without any extensions and I'm sure it will take us awhile to get going full speed.

We will be doing MtMM this year with my son for his freshman year of High School! Agghhh!!! A little nervous about entering the High School years, but excited and feeling a little more confident having HOD to help guide our schooling! I went ahead and ordered the new geography guide and it's science, and I'm considering using that literature, also. I am planning on beefing up both economics and State Study for 1/2 credit in each. Still have a few more decisions to make, cleaning out and organizing to do, and scheduling to get done, but we're getting there. Hopefully will be all ready to start Aug. 12th.

Three of my kids are, the oldest of whom will be in 10th. She is looking forward to Economics in a Box and Rosetta Stone Spanish. She will be doing the Integrated Science course and I am still finalizing her English credit. She has a couple of months of Algebra to finish and will move on to Geometry. I am looking forward to her home ec credit. I have a modest sewing curriculum, several books that I want us to read and discuss together, and I want to work on more meal planning and preparation and teaching little ones with her. She sold crafts and baked goods at Farmer's Market this summer which I think fits in well with economics and home ec. I am finally starting to get excited about school. I was worried that I would not get to that point this year. We really needed a break this summer! See, HOD is just that good. It can even win over the tired!!!!

We'll be using MTMM as well, with my 9th grader. Haven't decided yet exactly how we'll beef it up for him but I'm definitely "listening" to all of you! :)
