 I could never....I use little check marks in each box. Each kid has a different color, so we use colored pencils

Love it! :D We're reusing our guides, so we have different colored check marks in the corners of the boxes (some larger than others  ) My kids would love getting to x out the whole box...maybe I'll have to let the little guys do that when they go through.

I had no heart palpitations though...maybe because I have 4 boys?...maybe because I've paused school more times than I can count in the last 2 years to clean up a wall/couch/floor/child/table that looked like this? Magic erasers and spot shot are my friends.

I gave dd her own book this year. OMGosh! There is no way we could share. Her's looked like this. INK! I don't do ink!
Annaz, I do all the reading from the guide right now, because of dd's visual problems. So, she doesn't use the guide. If she did, I know she'd doodle on it. I am trying to train her not to doodle on school papers. Maybe she will have that learned before I DO give her a guide. :) I don't even mark it. I record what she has done in my log, so I know by that what is done and what isn't. Sorry, I can't join this party.

Ha, ha! This made me laugh out loud! We are not quite to the large scale marking you are, Homeschooling6, but we do happily use our guides and mark them up to make our days go as smoothly as possible! :D My ds checks off each box, and then I do, only usually with a "J" for Julie or with a colored pen. So, he can see what he has done, and I can see what I have checked/done at meeting time. :D Here is our MTMM guide...

This is our CTC guide, which I am on my second time through with my second ds...

One thing I do that may make others gasp though is have the dc write their answers for their Singapore Textbook work right in the their textbooks. It makes the lesson fly by, and the textbooks are inexpensive anyway. Worth every penny to me! :D So there is my shocker to share.

I would probably die if I saw that in my guide. I will applaud you though that you see a way that it benefits your children and allow it. We use a check sheet for each of mine and they love that. I'm one who don't even like for the corners of my book/manual to get slightly bent. I know OCD.

Hmmmm, maybe next year I'll do better. I'll be purchasing new guides, so I can start fresh :D . I like to let the children highlight and such. I have one son who needs to cross off each sentence of instruction as he completes the History Project.

I also like giving each child their own guide. I don't know, lots to think about for next year's guides

My Preparing, Bigger, and Little Hearts don't look nearly as bad. In those I just write the date and check mark in pencil with an initial.

Another quick note, I would love to have a guide for me. I have one in Res. to Ref. and two in CtC. I purchased a guide for each of them but I'd like one to make mama notes like, "check caleb's notebook" and such. Hopefully next year I can afford one for me too.

We do this too, since I got the idea from Julie. It made a huge difference in the longer textbook days for math here. :D Definitely worth every penny to me.

Does this mean you all don't use the workbooks at all? Just thinking ahead here. :D
