You know you have a good curriculum when...

Post by lissiejo » Mon Sep 03, 2012 5:28 pm

...history starts coming out in playtime :) My oldest daughter (Unit 4, Bigger) got her little sisters to start playing, "Let's build a settlement in America!" She has a miniature Jamestown figurine set my parents bought her and she created quite the settlement! What a joy to see her enjoy learning so much! This was our first day at full-speed in Bigger and everything went off without a hitch. I can't wait to write my weekly update!

When you fight with your child over who's turn it is to look at the Heart of Dakota catalog!

We are doing Preparing and my kiddos have an obsession with Schleich animals. They asked me if Amazon had ice age animals. They sure enough did and both chipped in money and bought them.

These are such great comments!

I keep telling my friends who are struggling with their homeschool how amazing HOD is. They think I must be an amazing homeschool mom because my kids love school so much. I keep telling them it's not me, it's my curriculum!

When your 12-year-old takes the curriculum books she has finished using and adds them to her bedroom bookshelf for "fun" reading :D

... their rooms are lined with HOD projects they just cannot part with
... your 12 yo wants to keep doing his Bible Quiet Time through summer break
... your 9 yo takes his "Hymns for a Kid's Heart" to his room to sing with each day a year after doing it in BHFHG
... your 5 yo reenacts the Bible stories he's done in his HOD Bible time again and again for playtime
... your kids favorite cartoon is "Liberty's Kids" because they know the history stories so well already
... your 12 yo can pick up the guide and use it from day 1 like a student planner
... your 9 yo takes "American Pioneers and Patriots" (used in Beyond 2 years ago) to his room to reread for fun
... your 5 yo's favorite bedtime stories are the ones from "101 Favorite Bible Stories"
... your dc can all pray for their Papa with cancer with faith God is listening
... your dc can attend their Great Grandma's funeral and see her body knowing she's not there anymore - but that she is in heaven - and they will see her again some day

What a great post! Thank you so much for this inspiration! :D

....when your child blows the preacher's children's sermon by answering the question so thoroughly it ends the sermon :D
....when your children handle the passing of their Nana with grace and strength knowing she is living well with Jesus now in heaven
....when you lie awake at night praising the Lord for such an awesome program
....when the entire family's walk with God grows simply because Christ is at the center of EVERYTHING, including school :D
....when you are silently thankful for it as you overhear other hs moms discuss and complain about other curriucla
....when your oldest begs to be apart of a younger's activity he remembers doing last year
....when your dd6 practically throws a temper tantrum because we MUST keep reading in "American Pioneers and Patriots"
....when your ds8 sings "Holy, Holy, Holy" at church from memory and surprises Daddy who uses the hymnal
....when your ds8 insists on keeping his log cabin with oil paper windows in tact and displayed for over a month

love HOD!
