Preparing-Week 4 Independent History Project?

Post by John'smom » Thu Aug 30, 2012 12:56 pm

Can you tell me what type of clay you used? Also what type of container with air-tight lid did you use? I was thinking of using a 9x13 glass pan with lid. Not sure if it's air-tight though. Any photos you want to share? Thanks for any help. My dc are loving the independent history projects and I want to make sure this one turns out well for them like the others have.

We used the air dry clay that you can find at Target or Walmart. I believe it was by Crayola in a tub. We used a couple of Glad containers. I found some nice bigger, shallower ones that were about 5X9 or so and they worked ok. I think a larger size would be better, but the clay is a bit pricey so I didn't want to have to buy too much. I see Amazon has a better price than what I paid so I should have checked there and gotten the big 5 lb. tub. That air dry clay comes in handy for a lot of projects. Here is a picture of one of my dc's map:

I hope that was the right project. :D

Patty, thank you so much!!! I placed my order with Amazon for the Crayola and got the 5 lb like you suggested. It should be here on Tues. I so appreciate you posting a picture too.

That's so funny Rebecca that we used the same container!

I'm glad that was the right project and you've got your air dry clay on the way Edwena. Have fun! :D

Neat! I bet Glad doesn't realize that their products are homeschool supplies.

Found that Kroger has their brand of Glad containers on sale this week, so I got 2 of them (one for each of my dc) for $1.88. :D
