CTC questions

Post by Bramble » Sun May 13, 2012 6:16 pm

Hi,
Just preparing to begin CTC and I have some questions. What do people usually use for the history research? The intro. mentions a comprehensive history encyclopedia and a Bible dictionary or encyclopedia. I will let my child use internet sometimes but also want him to use books. I would like suggestions of specific titles that others have found useful.

Which medium do people prefer to use on the student notebook pages when drawing the pictures? Do you have your child write in pencil or pen?

Could anyone link me to a picture of the finished product for the unit 1's history project? I'm not sure I am understanding what it should look like.

Thank you so much for your help.

My ds used Holman's Bible dictionary and the internet for the research. For drawing the pictures from Draw and Write through History he used pencil to sketch it and then colored pencils to color it in. For the pictures of the time line he does the same, pencil and colored pencils. For writing on the pages I have him use pencil, in case he has to erase anything.

I don't have my manual, but this is a link to my blog for the first week of CTC. I think the generation book is the project for that week and it is pictured here

I am wondering if Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary for Kids would be on age level for this, or geared for younger kids? I just don't know the depth of research required in CtC to know if this one would work or not. Anyone know?

There are great suggestions from a few moms on the link above. I purchased what i listed in the posts there plus i got a very expansive book by Peter Stearns titled The Encyclopedia of World History. It's a ig book witha huge topical index and gives info surrounding the topic's time. We found tower of babel and the book tells about the dynasty of that time and leaders, for instance.
