FYI white boards.

Hello everyone. Just in case I am not the only one who has dry erase markers drying out due to misplaced lids, Crayola makes a pack of dry erase crayons. They were less than five bucks. We are loving these! They come with a special cloth for erasing but it takes a bit of elbow grease so we have been using Windex and paper towels on ours and they come right off. They obviously do not write as smoothly as the markers but still quite easily. I was surprised. Hope this helps someone.

Oh my gosh, it helps here! We have a two year old who likes to say, "I do it!" So, we end up with the dry markers. Thanks for the tip!!!

I like them for spelling on the whiteboard because he can easily erase a letter and it doesn't mess the others up. So far, the mitt has erased everything just fine. Be cautious of the red crayon tho, it stains.

I have a two year old doing this exact thing. He sneaks into his sister's room and colors with her pink and purple dry erase markers on everything. Any ideas on how to remove dry erase markers from painted walls? Magic Eraser didn't even work.

My experience is for some reason dry erase markers do not come out of ANYTHING. Clothes, carpet, walls. Nothing. Paint to touch up is the only thing I think would work. (yes I also have a 2YO in my house)

They do also make washable dry erase markers, however the ones I bought after a few months don't even write very well. So I give my 6YO the non washable ones when it's time for her to do schoolwork on the white board and I give my 2YO the washable ones when she wants to write on the white board.

Thanks for the tip though, I had seen that those were out but hadn't tried them yet.

My 3yo got dry erase marker on a nice dress (among other things). I searched online and found a recommendation to try Murphy's Oil Soap. It worked better than anything else I tried. I was able to get the stain completely out. It helps to put a towel or rag under the garment you're cleaning as you work on it, and you'll need to scrub it with another towel/rag with Murphy's on it. HTH!

Thanks for that recommendation.
I bought the crayons yesterday. I may let them try them today.

I have them and love them, but I also discovered the regular "washable" Crayola crayons work just as well and are much cheaper. Plus, I love how a simple swipe of a wet cloth (no scrubbing at all :-)) completely clears the board.

I forgot to mention in my last post that plain water works great with the dry erase crayons, as well.

Wow-who woulda known? I put some of my kids' workbook pages in page protectors so we can wipe and reuse them with the next kid in a couple of years. Things will be so much simpler to just be able to use a washable crayon! Thanks for the tip!!
