We didn't finish school yesterday.

Post by off2workigo » Tue Aug 23, 2011 3:20 pm

Excerpt of a conversation with my 11 year old daughter this morning, our 5th day with Preparing and 5th day with HOD:

DD: We're gonna have a LOT of work to do today, since we didn't finish school yesterday!
Me: What are you talking about? We finished school yesterday!
DD: How could we? We only worked for, like, 2 hours!
Me: We worked from 9:00 to 3:30!
DD: Oh. It felt like two hours.

Thank you, HOD. Thank you!

Oh, what a tremendous blessing for you and your daughter. :P We are doing Preparing at 1/2 pace and it does not seem like 2 hours for us, because it is not!  We are enjoying the books very much and I have no doubt that ds will grow and mature into it! :D

That is funny! I can relate. My youngest does the same thing (Beyond) because she thinks all of the reading/talking is just fun. She says things like, "When are we starting school today Mom?" as we are just about finished with the first page of the day's lesson plans. She has started to figure it out, but I love that it is so enjoyable.
I've done all the guides now with at least one child and still feeling the HOD LOVE. LOL!

Love it! My oldest is also enjoying it. She wanted to continue working on her notebook page when I said it was time to quit. She has also been participating with my younger two when they do their Bible verse work and rhyme time. She even likes to listen in on storytime with them.

My 5yo keeps asking when she will do her school and I keep telling her we are!

I LOVE HOD!! A couple of days ago my oldest son said, "You know, I am beginning to really enjoy school again... just like when we did Preparing." (We took a year between Preparing and CTC and used another curriculum, so that is what he was comparing it to). And today I was telling him to be sure and read the whole box before starting an assignment and he said, "Oh, don't worry, I understand it perfectly. HOD really has a way of making things easy for me."

Time flies when you're having fun! :D I think that's pretty special dd thought school flew by. It is great to hear encouragement here as we are gearing up to officially start. I am getting my RevtoRev things this weekend, and because I already own PHFHG and LHTH from having used them previously with my older dc, I just need to figure out the consumables, which should be pretty easy as there are so few. May your year with your sweet dd continue to be a joy! :D
