My week in review of LHFHG is very short as we mainly focused on Phonics, FMS and Math. But, I wanted to share one of the math activities with everyone here. I LOVE Carrie's hand-on activities! I used Carrie's idea for Unit 17, Day 3, but instead of drawing circles on paper, I used peanut butter and milk lids. My daughter LOVED it!

NOTE: In case someone reads this post a few months from now, the new edition of the guide to be published later in 2013 will probably have a different unit and day to match the new Singapore books used.

Wonderful idea Mommmybelle!

This week we only focused on phonics, reading, math, & science. Plus a life skills lesson. Every week we will focus on a different theme for our Summer Camp School - this week was science experiments. My oldest thinks he would like to be a scientist in a lab.

My younger son was excited about an ETC book for himself and did several pages in it. He also enjoyed his Singapore math ( he is finishing up kindergarten).

My older son finished another Emerging Reader ( :D ), and started on a new one that I felt was too high a reading level for him - then surprised me with how well he read it! :o
His favorite things for this week were the kitchen science experiments. We learned about carbon dioxide and how the gas can extinguish a candle or make carbonated water.
With the help of a little baking soda, we did make the bubbles of carbon.

We are taking a break on Bigger Hearts for the summer to work on everything he needs extra work on. Next week my younger son will start back on LHFHG. He really enjoys it as long as I add in extra writing and math. I am looking forward to it!

Have a great summer!

My PHFHG boy is working on Unit 27 this week. He cracks me up because he whined about having to do school work, but yet was SOOOO excited to pick up Hero Tales again lol. The younger two are going VBS this week, so we have three hours of quiet time to get the reading and work done without distraction...in the car lol. Gotta love mobile homeschooling! Funny enough, the VBS theme is the AIG study, Kingdom Chronicles. They had a dozen or so stained glass windows Scattered around the room, so we took stock of each one and looked for common traits and themes on day one. Today, day three, he finished his stained class window. You know it's a hit when you get OOO's and Ahh's from the other kids too! My BHFHG girl pouted, "I wish I could do that project :( " I said, "You will! ", "sure, but not right now!" haha! love it ;)
