Not doing DITHOR but beyond the Emergent Readers??

We weren't planning on doing DITHOR partially for financial reasons however my son is beyond the Emergent Readers. He is just beginning third grade but can read and comprehend on what appears to me to be a 4th grade level. I have either all or most of all the recommended books for the DITHOR reading program however just not the teacher's manual. Is there anyway to simply use the storytime block that comes in the Bigger teacher's manual with the DITHOR recommended reading books??

Thanks for your help.

Natreez,

You could use the storytime lessons in "Bigger..." as your literature study this year as we are, in essence, covering you for a gentle approach to literature study with the Storytime box (until we can be sure kiddos are reading well enough to do "Drawn into the Heart...). :D

However, once you get to Preparing Hearts..., you'll need to be doing "Drawn into the Heart" (or something else for literature study) to raise the level of discussion and lessons to an appropriate level for the kiddos ages 8-10 (extending to ages 11-12). In Preparing..., we schedue DITHR 3 times a week.

Blessings,
Carrie
