We are using Bigger for 3rd. It's a perfect fit for us! And as far as eyes glossing over.... well, I always thought it was a boy thing. LOL You'd be surprised how much they soak up, even though they're standing on their heads, playing with smuggled in toys, or tapping hands and feet nonstop. You're ...

It's really up to the individual kid. Bigger would work for one kid in 2nd grade who is developmentally ready, but just barely fit for my kid in 3rd grade who is kinda a mix of beyond and bigger. Yet, looking through it I can definately see some 4th graders I know being a PERFECT fit for bigger too....

Youngest -- Little hearts Looking at that, it sounds good! There's NO...

I do Explode the code in addition to phonics, no problem! The whole books have little quizzes at the end. If your child has trouble grasping a skill it will be obvious on the tests. If you want more review for that skill, you can buy the 1/2 book and work on it. Otherwise, you just move up a level. ...

I'm leaning towards Preparing too, but I JUST GOTTA get my hands on it! LOL

I'm one of those gals who has to touch it, read it, study it before I can make any decision. Which makes curriculum shopping HARD! lol

I looked into winterpromise. I have a lady in my son's scout group that uses it for her kids and she loves it. I looked through hers (for 3rd graders) and was very confused. It was alot of jumping around, and things weren't tied in together (in my mind) well. Now, she loves this program, and there a...

Yes, we're in Frisco just a few miles away!-- collin county. So we may be under that too. Anyway, if you wanna see the manuals to see if it would fit to your tweaking, just let me know. I have Beyond and Bigger, and Drawn into the heart of reading. I originally planned on doing HOD and doing a diffe...

I'm not sure which programs you're using, or which ages you need? For us, with Bigger -- if doing 2a, 2b it's the WORKBOOKS only. If doing 3a 3b, it's the workbook AND textbook. I havent needed any answer keys, or anything else. The HOD ties it all together nicely, and havent needed anything else. I...

The stuff we are currently using goes ina basket in our dining room.

Everything else (read and unread) goes on a shelf in the office.

If I had it all "together" and son sees it he gets overwhelmed. I have to bring out only what we need at the moment.

As a mom of a 5 and 6 year olds in PUBLIC school, I wouldn't worry about the history too much! In prek and kinder here they dont learn history much at all. On presidents day, they did a week long study of presidents, mostly the "famous" one's. That's pretty much it, so far. Other than a few easy beg...

I'm combining Bigger and Beyond for myboys, same ages as yours! It's VERY doable!

The only thing I wanted to mention is all my kids are emerging readers, so they have the same books to read for the emerging reader set. Makes it easier! LOL
