Dealing with a perfectionist

Last week was a doozie with my 5.5 yo ds - who is my firstborn and my perfectionist. His attitude with most things is if he can't do it the right way and better than everyone else on the first try, then he's done trying. Since we're getting ready to start Kindergarten with LHFHG in about month or so...

Re: Organization idea

I got so excited when I saw your picture because that's exactly what I've done with our HOD material! It's been working great for us. :D

Art for Picture Study?

I was wondering if anyone could help me in locating prints to purchase for a picture study. (Specifically I'm looking for Norman Rockwell right now for the fall.) I've found some postcard-sized prints, but I'd like to have something a little larger - like 8x10 or so. If I would have had the foresigh...

Re: Anyone using HOD and homeschooling in New York State?

Lisa, I just wanted to pop in and say "hi" since we're in upstate NY too. I don't have any info for you since we're just officially beginning this year, but I'm thankful you started this post b/c I've learned a lot too. We'll be doing LHFHG for K this year (Ben is a December birthday so he misses th...

Re: Little Hands to Heaven Question...

We've used LHTH for my ds and stretched it over 2 yrs by doing it around 3 times a week. This also accounts for taking breaks for summer (dh is a teacher so that is our family travel time) and for things like holidays - and most recently a move. It's worked out perfectly for us. (It is extremely "ha...

Re: I don't see many

We'll be finishing up LHTH in a couple of months with my 5 yo and starting it again in the fall with my 3 yo. We've loved it! The 3yo (who has been tagging along the last few years) is looking forward to doing it "all by his big self".

Re: Prioritizing school/outside activities - advice?

Ask the Lord to show me when I am having conversations with myself (trying to figure out things) so I can change my audience and have that same conversation with HIM. Mary - I have frequent conversations with myself  and I have never heard anyone share this advice. I love when someone shows m...

Re: Prioritizing school/outside activities - advice?

Ladies, thanks so much for sharing your stories and advice. This has given me lots to "chew" on as I think through our priorities for the fall. I so appreciate you taking the time. :D

As I think more and more about it, this will probably be our goal too.

Re: Prioritizing school/outside activities - advice?

Both my husband and I agree that some sort of schedule needs to be put into place so that Danielle realizes that there is a time for study and a time for other activities. I don't feel the need to have her sit for a long period of time focusing on school, but I do want her to have some frame of ref...

How God weaves it all together

I just had to share this because I know you ladies experience things like this too and will appreciate seeing how God weaves what we're learning with HOD with other things that are going on in our lives. This is just a very simple thing, but it seems as though things like this happen ALL the time an...
