Re: What is the writing like in CTC
My oldest is going into the 6th grade, and I would like for her to be in a program that teaches writing multiple paragraphs. I don't care where they are written, in the notebook or on lined paper, so long as they are taught. Sorry I wasn't clear. I just wanted to ask if 3-5 paragraph writing is in C...

What is the writing like in CTC
Over the year, my kids have really improved with their weekly writing in PHFHG. Their write-ups are usually at least a page in length. How much does the writing ramp up in CTC? Are they going to start writing 3-5 paragraph write-ups? Are the write ups done in the student notebook, or on lined paper?...

Re: Little Hearts for His Glory is a Gem
I couldn't agree more. We did LHFHG years ago, but it wasn't until we were midway through the program that I realized how incredible it was. That's when we got hooked on HOD, and I haven't looked back. I'm so glad you enjoyed teaching it, and that your daughter flourished because of it.

Re: CTC Unit 25 Watercolor Tutorial
Tansy, I have always enjoyed your tutorials. If it's not too much trouble, would you consider posting them on the Message Board forum page under "project photos"? I see you already put one over there for CTC units 1-5. It has 384 views, so it's gotten a lot of exposure. Personally, I think they're g...

Re: Jumping in at CTC?
Tammy, Well, Preparing teaches writing. Every fourth day, there is a guided writing assignment that goes along with the history reading. It starts out slow, just requiring a few sentences. I'm sure it will get more difficult as the year progresses. We're on Unit 13 and my kid's writing has improved ...

Re: Jumping in at CTC?
Hi, Based on your post, I'd probably go with Preparing -- and maybe R&S level 4. The writing instruction is so thorough and it will benefit her tremendously. We're doing Preparing now, and the kids love it. My oldest does the extensions. I have to get back to school now, but I vote for Preparing.

Re: DD Written narrations Preparing
We do the box as written, and answer the questions. Then I have the kids write their paper out as follows: Starter sentence... Who (is the story about) What (happens) How (does the story end) Just having their paper structured like that helps them think through the reading and organize their thought...

My sympathies. I have one of those types as well.
We use CLE (Christian Light Education -- I think it's clp.org). Comes in 10 workbooks. The lessons are taught to the child so it doesn't require a lot of teaching time from Mom. Life-saver for our family.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Re: Snow Adventure!! AWESOME!!
Snow Adventure had us on the edge of our seats. It was such an exciting book! We read it over the winter. One snowy afternoon I had the kids dress warm for a little bring-this-book-to-life experiment. We put 75 pounds of daddy's weights on a sled, and had the kids pull it around the house. What a fu...

That would be us. We've completed LHFHG, BLHFHG, BHFHG, and in the fall we'll be doing Preparing. We're very happy with HOD.

Re: Finished LHTH
Hurrah for you and your lovely daughter. She has such nice penmanship.
We always celebrate when we finish a manuel, but sometimes I think it's more for me than for my children.
Enjoy your summer!
