Rev2Rev Science Question - Ordering

I am looking at Rev2Rev for my rising 7th grader. My question is whether or not all of the six books scheduled in the science section are actually used for the "Inventor Study" box. He had his heart set on doing Apologia for science. Would I be able to order the books for the Inventor Study and use ...

Re: Math placement advice needed for LHFHG

Thanks Daneale and Rice! We started this morning with A and she loved it! No complaints about it being to easy or anything. She did finish quickly and wanted to do more but I said we'd have to wait until tomorrow. Thanks for answering the questions about the 1A & 1B schedules! It seemed like a lot o...

Re: Math placement advice needed for LHFHG

Yes- I think B looks like where we left off in our other workbooks. I may have her just go ahead and do A as well in effort of keeping the same pace as what is in the guide. All the coloring and matching is good for strengthening her hands!

Math placement advice needed for LHFHG

My dd 5.5 (turning 6 at the end of June) is starting LHFHG. She has been a little slow to develop in writing- it is *very* tiring for her. We've done the CLE Kindergarten II books as I had thought initially about using LHFHG for 1st grade- but decided to get started now since we're done with our oth...

Re: How to Pick Curriculum???

It sounds like you may be able to combine the younger two in Little Hearts for His Glory- using the 1st grade options for the 7yo and the Kindergarten options for the 4yo if he/she is ready for them. Really look at the writing requirements on the placement chart to see if your 4th grade daughter wou...

Re: Prereading for CTC on up?

Thanks for the feedback ladies! I have every faith that Carrie's book choices will be great (and age appropriate)- I was more thinking about knowing if my son actually did a good job comprehending the reading when he does his oral narrations and such. :) I think I'll go ahead and do some prereading-...

Prereading for CTC on up?

Does anyone find it helpful to preread the books that will be used for independent study in the upper elementary (and higher) guides? Is this something that is recommended? We are so looking forward to our CTC box day on Tuesday (though we won't be starting until this summer)!! I wasn't sure if I sh...

Re: Does Resurrection to Reformation go along w/ MFW RtR?

I haven't done those guides yet - but I can't imagine doing two guides for one child. HOD's guides are so rich and full - I think it would be way too much, for you and him. Hopefully ladies w/experience in Res to Ref will chime in soon. :D

Re: Next High School Guide

Carrie,

I am keeping you, Julie, and your family in my prayers! I lost my dad last year to a heart attack very unexpectedly. I pray you will be able to have some sweet times and memories ahead to cherish of your dad before his passing. God be with you all!!

Re: gifted placement - starting HOD now

I agree that a gifted 4th grader may need more of a challenge than using Bigger. How are your 4th grader's writing skills though? That would be an area I'd consider more so than the reading level. You can always add in quite a good deal more challenging reading for a gifted reader if you combine the...

Re: WWYD with these ages...

I haven't used those guides yet so I can't say for sure- but I'd keep the older two together and put them both in CTC. From what I've read here, there is a significant jump in skills between the guides as you go. If your oldest can be a reluctant learner, I'd be hesitant to skip a guide unless you f...

Re: placement question for Bigger Hearts

While the bible study in Bigger isn't independent work for your dd, it really is wonderful! I'm getting so much out of it and so is my ds8.5! I don't know that it'd really be necessary to add an extra bible study for her. You could try it as written, and if it doesn't feel like enough- then go from ...

Re: placement question for Bigger Hearts

I think your plan sounds great! There is a schedule in Bigger that lists the daily readings for the extension package. The guide gives a brief list of suggestions for assessing your child's comprehension of the extension material as well. I think if she's doing DITHOR at her level and all the other ...
