Re: High School Biology - input desired

We also chose to do Health this year, as it paired well with the year of Biology. We used Total Health, which we have enjoyed immensely.
Carrie,

Do you think you will be scheduling this Health in a future guide? Or should we think about adding it into a guide?

Re: Placement-Preparing or CTC?

I would not skip Preparing. Besides the narration and writing skills which are learned in it, the material is just plain wonderful! Grandfather's Box, Hero Tales... the books in Preparing were great! My kids and I learned so much and had such great spiritual discussions. I consider the T/I markings ...

Re: Should I use Bigger or Preparing?

Bigger takes about 2 1/2 to 3 hours of time total with much of that including you involved. Preparing takes about 3 1/2 to 4 hours total but at least 1/2 of that will end up being independent work for your dc after they are used to the guide. Something to remember though, is that the designation of...

Re: Subject times in Rev2Rev

My son who is in RTR w/extension this year is 8th grade (he is 14.) Next year he will be 9th grade and by 15. Maybe you were looking at my other son who is in 11th grade. He is 17. He is just using RTR history as an elective as he had most of his required core classes done except English. Next year ...

Re: Subject times in Rev2Rev

Thank you. That is what I needed to know. :D I am using Rev2Rev for 9th grade, so I am adding to the Bible to make it credit worthy. I'm also adding Spanish. This is looking like a long day with history taking 2hours! I don't think Julie's schedule included the extension books either which we will b...

Re: Subject times in Rev2Rev

Thank you for that link! That was what I was looking for. Here is what Julie had listed for times: "Left Side of Plans - Learning Through History Reading about History: 25 min. *Note: This may be longer on the written narration day, though this will balance out as there is no history project on the ...

Re: Should I use Bigger or Preparing?

I would definitely recommend Bigger if you want to keep them in the same guide (you could use the extension set for the 5th grader). We started our HOD journey in Preparing (I had a 4th grade girl--good reader, weak writer, a 5th grade boy--special needs, and a 7th grade boy whom I wanted to combine...

Subject times in Rev2Rev

Hi there, I have seen suggested time allotments for each box for several of the guides. I was wondering if anyone has figured out about how long each subject takes for Rev2Rev. We will be doing this guide next year with the Signers and 50 States, so just trying to gauge how long the History portion ...

Re: Bigger Hearts good for 4th grader?

We did Preparing with my 4th grader last year, and I wish we had done Bigger with extension . I put her in Preparing because I wanted to combine with her older brother. It went OK, but sometimes I had to tweak writing assignments and such because they were a little difficult for her. Since she strug...

Grading HOD assignments

Last year was our first year with HOD. I combined my 7th, 5th, and 4th grader in PHFHG and it went well. (Of course, we tweaked some for the 7th grader.) Next year he will be doing RTR for 8th grade. Here's my question: I have a high schooler who will be doing other things for his core classes (Engl...

PHFHG extension

Hi. I am new here. I found HOD this spring at our annual HS conference and just received my teacher's guide in the mail. I am very excited to start this fall, and will spend the summer gathering supplies and books I will need. I am planning on using PHFHG for my 4th and 5th grader and using the exte...
