Re: Using RTR - Earth Science for High School

HI all, I thought this might be interesting to pass along... I emailed a few of the admissions counselors of the schools my ds might be interested in attending for college and this is what they shared with me . They place the most weight on the application on the math through algebra 2 and they want...

Re: Using RTR - Earth Science for High School

Carrie, As I read your post it sounds as if you feel that the RTR science (option 1) as written would be acceptable for Earth Science for high-school adding in Our Weather and Water with the Exploring Planet EArth assignments and adding in the the Fossils book on the fifth day. This is all quite doa...

Re: Science in HOD!!!

Just chiming in to agree with you. My dc love HOD science. It is one of MY favorite aspects of HOD. I believe the content and methodology are quite sound and quite effective. And not that this matters, but my oldest who used HOD science up until his Freshman year of high-school has always tested at ...

Using RTR - Earth Science for High School

Hi Carrie, I've been really praying and pondering using RTR guide fully for high-school. With that in mind I am strongly leaning toward having my son study Earth Science for his Freshman Year (which is very common in our area) and go the Earth Science, Physical Science, Chemistry, Biology path or Ea...

Re: Ninth Grade Placement Question

I'm loving this thread, celestial mom. And I really like the idea of going the RTR/Earth Science route as Carrie suggested and simply following the sequence of the guides. (I'm strongly considering this for my 9th grader.) I hope you'll post more questions I'm listening in.... :D

Re: MTMM or Geography guide

I totally agree with you.....if Carrie didn't write such great guides it wouldn't be so difficult to pick and choose. But now that I've read more of your story I would suggest this....find out what the PS is covering with the Freshmen and what your ds will be studying in PS as a Sophomore, Junior an...

Re: If you've used Preparing, please vote!

I've use PHFHG with a 7th grader, a 6th grader, and a 5th grader. It was a great guide for each child for very different reasons. I personally LOVE IT because of the World History focus. It does such a great job of providing an overview.

Re: Teaching Time In Geograhpy Guide??

Thank you holdinon. That's what I've found works best for us - just one block of time later in the morning or afternoon to go over the days work, etc. Thank you for taking the time to respond! :D

Re: Teaching Time In Geograhpy Guide??

This information is very helpful. Thank you holdinon and Carrie!

Holdinon a question for you - do you simply have one hour-long meeting session with your dd at one point in the morning or do you work with her off an on all morning?

Re: Geography guide layout?

Hi Julie, How very kind of you to "notice." I know y'all are crazy busy. You are very much in my heart and prayers. I'm so thankful for all the good things that are happening in the HOD world. In the event that Carrie does post a response I'll ask one more question. Do you foresee anything problemat...

Geography guide layout?

Hi all, Carrie may have posted the possibilities on this and I've missed it, if so could someone point me in the right direction for the information? What will be the layout for the new guide? What subjects will be on the left side and what will be on the right? We're trying to finalize decisions fo...
