Re: Using only the history portion & possible science
Yes, you can certainly use the resources that you've named and use HOD for your science and history. I believe in the math and language art boxes it even references that you can use resources of your choice in this area. If you should choose to go that route there are a few things to keep in mind. Y...

Re: RTR for high school - what do you think?
Melissa, Carrie had mentioned using Signs and Seasons OR the Astronomy book which is already scheduled in the guide. She also suggested (just as you have!!!) the other Evolution book. And yes those are appealing. I gave them a look at our recent conference and think they would work. Thank you. Your ...

Re: RTR for high school - what do you think?
What would you or others suggest as a way to cover what earth science covers while moving onto a higher level science? I'm not concerned about the physical science and chemistry in Rev to Rev and MTMM, because these sciences will be revisited in later years, but not earth science. Correct? Perhaps, ...

Re: RTR for high school - what do you think?
Hi Tammy, Thank you for your input. Yes, I am looking at RtR for my 14 yo not rev to rev. In our area it is pretty traditional to study earth science as a Freshman. Physical science is an 8th grade course. Earth science is a 9th grade course. I've checked with all the potential colleges that are cur...

RTR for high school - what do you think?
I've been grappling for months on what to do with my 14 yo for his Freshman year. And I would really like the insight of seasoned High-schoolers and HOD users. . My son has used the HOD guides up through the unit 18 of CTC then took a year and a year away from the CTC guide - focusing on reading, wr...

Re: When is the next guide
This is such a great idea, Carrie. Could you post it in Google Drive and just provide a link to it for us to view or something like that? This would be super helpful. I really need to see it to just get a sense of what the high school years are going to look like.

Re: New Math Recommendation: World Geography Guide
Carrie, Just making sure I am clear on progression... So is the recommendation to go directly from 6b to Foerster's if the student is ready And to go to dm 7a/7b if you need a bit more time? I actually meant to say DM 1A and 1B - not 7a/7B.....I was posting too late to think straight. But regardles...

Re: New Math Recommendation: World Geography Guide
Carrie, I really think this is a great decision. I applaud you for your foresight and courage to make this change. I, too, was really excited about the DM 1a/1b materials and the rest of the series, but it was a challenge for us, because I simply needed more support than the series provided. And now...

Re: Writing Output in HOD and progression over the years
Carrie, At your convenience would you update this thread to contain info. regarding Rev to Rev, MTMM and the new Geography guide. It would be of great value to me and to many others as well, I imagine. And I have a question regarding writing - it seems that HOD covers writing so well across the curr...
