Reading Struggles

Hello, I haven't been here in along time because we stepped away from HOD for a year. Now I need help deciding between The Reading Lesson, Reading Made Easy, or Sound Bytes Reading. My son, 8yo last Nov., is really struggling with learning to read. He is not a big fan of word list and rather read se...

Re: Getting Prepared for Preparing

Daneale and Mumkins, I am not sure how I missed both of your post but thank you so much for you suggestions and encouraging words. We are going to do some DITHOR Level 2 books and see if that helps. Thank you to everyone who responded.

Re: Getting Prepared for Preparing

Pam,
He finished reading the ER books probably a year ago. Should I have him go back and read some of those since he knows he can?

Getting Prepared for Preparing

I have a 9 yo that will be starting Preparing, Lord willing, in the fall. He will really need to pick up on his reading before then if he has to read by himself. He reads out loud to me each day but is very reluctant to read on his own. He just doesn't have the confidence to do so saying, he won't k...

Re: Links Please

Here is the MFW compared to HOD one http://www.heartofdakota.com/board3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1446 . I don't remember one where she talked about not doing World Geography first-I'm assuming you mean in the younger guides. I do remember her talking in different threads about why she does American Hist...

Re: Links Please

Wow, Lynn, that was fast. Thank you. And yes, I am talking about in the younger guides. Maybe what you said is what I am thinking about. Do you have that link?

Links Please

I have been looking for two threads, I think, I remember reading. I can't find them now. So, if I am correct and did read them, can someone post links for them if you know where to find them? TAI 1. A post where Julie compares HOD and MFW. 2. A post that tells why HOD doesn't have World Geogra...

Re: Letter Help, Again Please

Imercon, I think what the original poster is saying is through out this forum is that in her state, if she has her child tested, no matter what, it will be reported to the school (because it is required by law) and she is trying to avoid that. I know in my state, there are certain things where I li...

Re: Letter Help, Again Please

Thank you for sharing about your ds! There is much wise advice here to help. The ladies have excellent thoughts moving forward! I can empathize with your situation in regard to testing. That is tricky! I do think you could find a specialist outside of the school setting who could do some testing, h...

Re: Morning Routine Questions for Julie

Julie has a blog? Where In the world can I find it? Thanks for asking, but I fear my blog will be a disappointment. I am so NOT active on my blog! As in 'years' of not posting much! However, I always hope to do more with it. Most of what the poster is speaking of can still be found on my blog...
