My dd is using LHFHG. She flew through the R&S workbooks, and we are only about half way done with Little hearts. She is a very visual learner, and loves workbooks. I looked at the R&S web sight and the next step seems to be 1st grade which is just a little to old for her, and everything else seems ...

Re: Does defending our choice to homeschool ever get easier?

inhistiming, Your response made me cry, thank you! I feel so unburdend after reading that, thanks for reminding me. Home school is so sacred to me, and I often think that others will be respectful of that and when they ask me a question, i really never expect that it will be a loaded question, I am ...

Re: Does defending our choice to homeschool ever get easier?

Well here is the thing, pretty much everyone in our family supports our decsion. Here is where it gets tricky for me, there are just a couple (who claim they whole heartedly support us) but then make these little sutle digs about it, It would almost be better if they just came out and said, "I dont ...

Does defending our choice to homeschool ever get easier?

Ok, I know I have had posts about this before, and I sorry here is one more. It is so easy for me to give other people encouragement in this area but when I am faced with it, I still feel that I have not learned yet how not to be offended. But it is my desire to not be offended, say thank you for yo...

Another lapbooking question!

I know there was a post in recent days on to lapbook or not to lapbook. I read all the post and checked out the web sites and I think this would be a wonderful addition to our HOD curriculum (not that HOD in and of itself isn't already SPECTACULAR :!: ) My dd(almost 6) is so hands on and her strengt...

Re: OT- Can I just say that I love all my HODies!

Wow, you know this post just touched my heart, I just sat down to look at what was going on, on the board and I was thinking to myself, reading over some things how great it is to have so many like-minded mommies on this board always here for each other. Then I read this one, and I thought ahhh, jus...

Like a lot of you I am a fan of Charlotte Mason. I have read "Charlotte Mason companion" by Karen Andreola, and there are a lot of great ideas about how to impliment the CM methed. Though I am the kind of person that needs more of a guidline or outline rather that I can be flexible with, (which is w...

Re: How do you teach a 5 yr old diligence?????

Thank you Ladies once again for reeling me back in. You know after I read some of the responses today, I was just praying and asking the Lord for guidence, and I really felt like I also need to be more diligent and more consistant in my parenting. Actually my daughter is a wonderful kid, its just th...

How do you teach a 5 yr old diligence?????

We just started school yesturday and while the day went pretty good, I am continually frustrated trying to teach my 5 and a half year old, that spending 2 minutes making a letter very good is better then spending 2 minutes making 10 sloppy ones. She looks at me like I am talking a forien language. O...

Re: Need some encouragement!

Thank you for the encouragement, I really needed to hear (or read) everything you all had to say. I thought I was pretty cofident about our desicion, until these recent comments, and I really started doubting myself  , I knew I needed like minded people to reel me back in :) I needed to know t...
