Re: So cool, my dd independent science research project
That is amazing. You should scan it or take a picture and share it on here. I would love to see it!

Re: DITHOR HELP!
I would pay close attention to whether it's the book or just when they have to do work. My kids groan on the days they have workbook pages. I frequently have to tell my oldest to stop reading ahead. So, take a look to see if its the fact that the activities and workbook pages make them "work" instea...

Re: Love HOD, but difficult making PHFHG work...
At her age I would recommend half speed. Then to increase your hours for the state add in some fun and independent things. My kids have enjoyed art lessons with See the Light Art DVD's. I wanted them to get some instruction in art to help them with HOD projects and I feel that these did that. You wi...

This is not allowed on these boards. Be careful of used, you can easily spend just as much as new because of shipping costs.

Re: Breakfast/lunch ideas?
At the beginning of the school year I like to make a quick list of foods for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinners. We have had many changes over the years due to food allergies and now a diet. So, I like to start with a fresh, current list. I also do not eat the same foods as my kids always. If I ha...

Re: Bridging the Storytime Gap Between Guides
Since we'll be ahead with Storytime, would it be feasible to just pick up the Storytime activities from Beyond once we complete LHFHG? Or does the Beyond Storytime activities closely relate to the left side of the Beyond guide? And if we did that, would it make sense to repeat those same activities...

Re: Help me not give up! NOT doing well
School can be downright awful with kids who don't obey. I've heard from many homeschool veterans who needed to take a break from the books and work on character and attitudes. I suggest that you read on Raisinggodlytomatoes.com. Hopefully you will find more specific answers on there about discipline...

Re: PHFHG alternative to Heaven's Heroes?
I would just re-read Hero Tales. Now for a quick OT. At the pool swimming yesterday my oldest son told how Amy Carmicheal once wanted to have blue eyes and prayed for them. But, while working as a missionary she realized that God made her with brown eyes and brown hair for a purpose so that he could...

Re: Combining with other curriculums
If you want a social aspect you can always start a fun Friday in your area. In our area we have a large homeschool group. Our group has a yahoo group for messages and information. Within the group we have whatever activities a mom wants to plan. We usually have Mom's night out once a month, park day...

Re: Tomboy or Trouble?
Joyful 3 gave some great advice. I wouldn't worry about what you have described. Most likely she wants to wear what feels the most comfortable. Maybe she even likes boy pjs because they cover more than girls and feel more modest or softer, etc. Being all frilly and pink does not make you a nice woma...

Congratulations! You will enjoy your box day. I just got our HOD for the year. They take such good care packaging all the books. I couldn't get all mine back in the box. So their packing amazed me! I hope you enjoy your year!

Re: Do I need a schoolroom with HOD?
We started out doing school in our kitchen. I stored all their books in a plastic basket in my kitchen cabinets. Eventually we worked up needing more space for our stuff. We then turned our unused dining room into our school room. We do use it but I have a somewhat open house plan with my kitchen, l...

Re: Purchase at convention??
You get whatever they have in stock there and the rest will be shipped to you. So, it depends on what they have with them. Or at least that's the way it used to be. Wondering now since they have so many products.
