Re: Another 9th Grade MtMM vs Geog Guide Question
Thanks Carrie! I am still so thankful for the support you give for us and our badgering of questions  . Not many (actually none that I know of) spend the amount of time giving individualized problems/questions. It truly is appreciated, and I hope you know that we do not take it for granted. I ...

Re: Another 9th Grade MtMM vs Geog Guide Question
Thanks for checking in, Julie! I know Carrie is busy, and that she'll get her when she can. No worries there! We have plenty of time to make final decisions. Although deciding before that long-awaited "new package official email" would be awesome :D I always love getting that email!

Hopefully I am doing this link correctly. If not, you may want to check out the stick thread about beefing up programs.

Re: Copywork in Beyond, do I correct it?
I would say, in a nutshell, yes, correct the copywork. However, this is not a red-pen marking on page kind of "correcting" but more a guided progression. Has your dd completed a handwriting program? When you say her tall letters don't go to the top and sitting letters float, is this when she is usin...

Another 9th Grade MtMM vs Geog Guide Question
Carrie, I almost feel guilty about posting another "case study" for you. I do know that we will be ok whichever way we go, so...I promise I won't hold it against you if you don't get to this  . Based on what you said in the other thread (specifically about the depth and spiritual connections i...

Re: Questions...skip MTMM
I am not the op here (sorry, Stacy that we sort of took over your thread  ). And I don't have a lot of time, but I just wanted to say thank you, Carrie, for taking the time to ponder this with all of us and share your thoughts. Last night, I had spent some time really thinking over dd's skill ...

Re: Questions...skip MTMM
We are another family in the same boat. I do believe dd could skip MTMM. We began HOD when she was in 5th with Preparing with extensions. She could have done CtC, but being new, we decided to go with Preparing (which I do not regret). She has always done all of the extensions, done R&S grammar at th...

Re: Oral Narration "timing"
When they first begin independent reading that will require a narration, usually in Preparing, I have had them come to me right away. I will do my best to stop what I am doing right away. It may be that the independent reader has to wait a minute or two before I get to a stopping place with another ...

Re: Spelling Rules
Rod and Staff does cover dictionary skills (including alphabetizing, looking up words, how to use the pronunciation guides, etc). However, vocabulary itself is covered throughout the plans in the guide. Bigger and Preparing have specific words to look up, write the definition, use the word in a sent...

Re: Written Narration Checklist Question
We do work on one at a time and I don't correct things that are further down the list. I do however make sure he still is correcting anything that is earlier on the list. After looking back through Charlotte Mason's writings, I do think that this is the way she promoted. I would still like to hear ...

Re: Dictation Levels
I believe that Level 8 is the last. I anticipate some of mine will be finished by 8th grade, but I will have at least a couple who will be doing dictation into high school.

Written Narration Checklist Question
I've got a question about going through the Written Narration Checklist. I understand to move through the list working on number one (indenting) until that's mastered, then focus on number 2, etc. But how do you approach the rest of the list? My older two were more natural/intuitive writers (at leas...
